The Duchess of Cambridge meets Stella McCartney last night
But at a Buckingham Palace event last night, Naomi Campbell managed it.
the 47-year-old donned a very eye-catching dress for the fashion reception. the green satin gown featured large ruffles around her arms and down the back that would have caused the model to part the crowd of fashionistas in more ways than one.
she matched the floor-length vintage gown from designer Pierre Cardin with a pair of gauze gloves and gold jewellery from Bulgari. such dresses retail online from £600, with some selling for as much as £10,000.
While Miss Campbell opted for an outlandish look, Kate stuck to her usual sophisticated style. the duchess, who appeared to proudly place her hands on her growing bump during the evening, wowed in a black and white flowered dress by British design Erdem.
Her £2,150 gown appeared to have been adapted to take account of her pregnancy and offered an extremely flattering silhouette.
the event, co-hosted by Kate, 36, saw her mixing with fashion royalty including Us Vogue’s editor-in-chief Dame Anna Wintour and designer stella McCartney. the reception was organised to launch the Commonwealth Fashion Exchange, which aims to create partnerships between established designers and emerging talent, particularly those specialising in traditional handcraft techniques.
