Emails that lured a victim into his trap

-

MATTHEW Falder posed on classifieds website Gumtree as an artist called Liz who paid for nude photos to sketch. As this email exchange with one victim shows, Falder would then use the pictures to blackmail them into sending even more images:

POSING AS FEMALE ARTIST, FALDER SNARES VICTIM

‘Glad to hear from you. The photos would vary depending on what you wanted to earn for them. Being honest, there would be a sexual element to them, so I understand if that puts you off. If not, I would be willing to pay £200 for “topless” images or £500 for full nudity.

‘I appreciate you may not feel comfortable with this suggestion, but I hope you can see the rates are generous, and the images are for my own appreciation, and would never be published or made available to others without your express consent, and a suitable (and significant) extra fee. Hopefully that answers your question, but if not, please feel free to ask anything else.

‘If you are interested in taking up this offer, let me know and we can work out the details. Liz.’

‘YOU HAVE TWO OPTIONS’: HIS BLACKMAIL THREAT

‘OK [victim’s name], I think I know enough about you now. You have two options, so choose carefully, and tell me your choice.

‘A) You take more photos for me, as I tell you to, and of what I tell you to, without complaining

‘B) I send the images to everyone on Facebook associated with your school, and in letters to your parents and teachers, explaining with printouts of all the pictures that you will strip for money. I will also send copies to the police. Which do you choose?’

DEPRAVED TORMENTOR’S SADISTIC TAUNTS

‘I can’t be caught, I have covered my traces. Looks like I should start sending things to your school then :) I will contact people individually to see what they think. And I think your parents have overlooked that you have produced illigal [sic] material. Shame you had to tell them, but I am going to have to start sending the pictures now, unless you have a REALLY good reason for me not to.’

PLEADING OF THE DESPERATE VICTIM

‘Look plz don’t send them and plz leave me alone plz I will do you a good photo and then plz leave me alone there are other ppl out there who will do it for u but plz not me. find sum1 else plz I’m begging u just let me do one more then leave me alone.’
