£70k for victim of sex pest cop
a FORMER policewoman was yesterday awarded a £70,000 compensation payout after being groped by an inspector.
Lisa Myers quit her job with the British Transport Police in January last year after being sexually harassed by Paul nightingale, 40, over 12 months.
Mr nightingale has been ordered by a tribunal to pay £21,960 to 38-year-old Mrs Myers, who now manages a DIY store.
and she will also receive a payout of about £50,000 after the British Transport Police settled a separate claim against the force for sex discrimination and victimisation.
at the end of a six-day tribunal hearing in Liverpool, employment judge Tobias ryan said married father-of-two Mr nightingale had been ‘defending the indefensible’ by contesting the sexual harassment case. The judge rejected Mr nightingale’s claim that he thought the pair were having an affair at their base at Liverpool Lime street station, and the inspector ‘knew full well he was taking advantage’.
