STEFAN GOLASZEWSKI won a Best Writer Bafta for the first series of his beautifully observed sitcom; now it returns for a welcome second series following another year in the life of widowed Cathy (Lesley Manville, pictured). Fans will be delighted to see all the cast returning — including Peter Mullan as Michael, Cathy’s heartbreakingly smitten friend, and Lisa McGrillis as Kelly, her son’s airhead girlfriend. The first episode is set on Cathy’s 60th birthday — and, thanks to Kelly’s thoughtful banners, the whole neighbourhood knows her age. Happily, a third series has already been ordered.
