Elvis had blazer from Blair school

-

HE was famous for bejewelled jumpsuits so was probably the last person you’d expect to have a public school blazer hanging in his wardrobe.

But Elvis Presley once owned one of the magenta and brown jackets worn by pupils at the leading private school attended by Tony Blair.

Fettes College in Edinburgh, which charges £33,500 a year, was astounded to discover one of the blazers had belonged to the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

It is being sold by PR Auction online with no mention of its Scottish roots and is expected to fetch at least £1,400. The jacket was in a collection of Elvis’s possessions obtained from his father Vernon’s home in Tennessee in 1999.

It was then on display at the now closed Elvis-a-rama museum in Las Vegas until 2006 and identified by a label for school suppliers Aitken and Niven.

A spokesman for PR Auction said it was a mystery how it ended up with Elvis but speculated it was ‘a gift from a fan who recognized he wore flashy clothing’.
