Trump presidency cost our family business millions, says Donald Jr
DONALD TRUMP’S family firm has missed out on ‘hundreds of millions’ from lost business since he became President, his son claims.
The Trump Organisation has decided to reject new opportunities around the globe because of the 71-year-old’s job, Donald Jr said.
‘We are refraining from doing new deals while my father is in office,’ he revealed in an interview published yesterday.
‘We are turning down deals worth hundreds of millions of dollars around the world.’
Donald Jr, 40, is in India to promote luxury apartment developments, and tomorrow he will have dinner with buyers in Gurgaon, Haryana, a satellite of the capital where many major companies have offices. The US President has given control of the Trump Organisation to Donald Jr and other son Eric, 34, but refused to divest his assets – sparking concerns about a conflict of interest.
Critics claim the Trump family’s continued involvement could allow the firm to profit from foreign governments eager to curry favour in Washington.
But Donald Jr said the company was focusing on existing developments rather than seeking new business opportunities in India, its biggest market outside the US.
