Vegan yoghurt with added milk

- Daily Mail Reporter

A VEGAN food company popular with Nigella Lawson has been forced to recall its yoghurt – because it contained milk.

Coyo has had to withdraw all flavours of its dairy-free coconut milk yoghurt.

The Food Standards Agency said the product contained ‘undeclared’ milk and posed a risk to anyone with dairy allergies, and urged customers to return any pots they had bought to shops.

The firm, which sells to Waitrose, Selfridges and Tesco, made £4.5million last year.

It was set up six years ago by mum-of-two Bethany Eaton, 38, from Kent.

Celebrity chefs Ella Woodward and Nigella Lawson are said to be fans, and use its dairy-free yoghurt and ice cream in recipes.

Coyo said: ‘During product testing, a small amount of dairy has been found in our yoghurts. We are devastated. We’ve carried out a thorough review and have identified that the contaminated material was provided to us by an external third-party supplier.

‘We have terminated our relationship with the third-party supplier to ensure that this never happens again.’

The Food Standards Agency said: ‘If you have bought the product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.’
