Great War disaster

-

IT IS understandable that Colonel Tim Collins would prefer World War I to be seen as a great Allied victory (Mail). But I regard it as a disaster for all who took part and a tragedy that should never have taken place.

Apart from the loss of life and injuries to millions, it destroyed property and bankrupted European economies in order to prevent German domination of the economy for the benefit of the elites.

It crippled the British economy right up to World War II and failed to curb German ambitions.

I regard the EU as an attempt by the Germans to achieve by peaceful means the outcome that military efforts could not deliver.
