Unhappy new year

-

I’M NOT surprised Chinese New Year celebrations at Blenheim were disappointing (Mail). As annual members, we steer clear of any organised events there, as they are invariably underwhelming.

One Christmas advertised ‘ Come and see the Three Kings bearing gifts’. After traipsing through the house with a four-year- old child, it turned out to be cardboard cut-outs. On Halloween, they just put a white sheet in a tree to represent a ghost and some cotton wool for cobwebs.

Drinks are served in cardboard cups as they don’t have a dishwasher or staff to wash up. I did ask if the Duke of Marlborough has his morning cuppa in a paper cup.
