Say no to a mortgage

-

I object to the claim by the Centre for policy Studies that ‘if hardworking families cannot afford houses, how will they ever feel they have a genuine stake in society?’

the UK has the highest percentage of home owners in europe with only 28 per cent living in rented accommodation. In Switzerland, the situation is the reverse with only 30 per cent owning their homes. Some people choose to live in rented accommodation as a lifestyle choice while others have no alternative.

Many young people choose to mortgage their future to bricks and mortar and are left with little disposable income to afford the extras that contribute to a stable family.

It’s about time we educated and supported our young people that owning property is not the only foundation upon which to build and realise their hopes and dreams. they need to think beyond mortgages and free up their energy and passions.
