Sterling talks puzzle

- By SAMI MOKBEL

RAHEEM STERLING’S future at Manchester City is in doubt because talks over a new contract have failed to materialise.

The England international has been one of the stars of City’s season, scoring 20 goals for Pep Guardiola’s side.

But the Premier League leaders have yet to make a move to extend his deal, which has two seasons left after this one. Sterling’s contract is worth £180,000 per week, but the attacker can expect a rise given his brilliant form and interest from Europe’s elite — including Real Madrid, where manager Zinedine Zidane has spoken of his admiration.

Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva have both negotiated and signed new contracts at City recently, but puzzlingly, Sterling, 23, has had to wait.
