Roby stars as stylish Saints stay unbeaten

- RALPH ELLIS

JAMES ROBY scored his first try since taking over as captain as St Helens continued their blistering start to the season last night by demolishing Huddersfield Giants 26-12. The 32-year-old England hooker led from the front with Jon Wilkin, Zeb Taia and Mark Percival also going over to make it three wins out of three. Danny Richardson converted all the tries and added a penalty. It represents a remarkable start for Saints head coach Justin Holbrook, a surprise appointment when the 41-year-old Australian replaced Keiron Cunningham at the end of last season. Holbrook has brought a new belief, with Roby (above) an inspiring leader on the field. Wigan, one of four 100 per cent sides before last night, saw their record slip as they were beaten 16-10 by Warrington Wolves, with Bryson Goodwin kicking two penalties and converting tries by Tom Lineham and Ryan Atkins. Salford secured their first win as they beat Hull KR 36-12 with tries from Niall Evalds (two), Gareth O’Brien, Junior Sa’u, Jake Bibby and Rob Lui.
