Chicken King to sell his fish wing

-

A sCANDAl-hit food firm is plotting to flog its Irish fish division to raise £50m, sources claim.

The 2 sisters Food Group, run by Ranjit Boparan, 51, nicknamed ‘Chicken King’, is understood to be mulling the sale of Donegal Catch, and has reportedly hired finance adviser Clearwater International.

Boparan’s firm is desperate for extra money following a hygiene crisis that saw its plant in West Bromwich shut down for a month last year, after workers were filmed changing dates on food labels and reusing meat that had fallen on the floor. It owes debtors £824m, with £250m of bonds due next year.

last month, 2 sisters sold pizza brand Goodfella’s to Birds Eye owner Nomad Foods for £200m. Boparan has also announced he will shut three factories, potentially cutting 900 jobs. And the firm’s 17,000-member pension scheme had a black hole of £541m, according to the most recent estimate.
