BOBSLEIGH received more than £5million in funding, yet the build-up and performances were an utter shambles. But the biggest loser has to be curling. It got £5.6m from UK Sport, which is hard to justify in an event that is less reliant on sports science and equipment. The men failed to get out of the round robin and Eve Muirhead’s rink lost their bronze-medal match. It is true that skeleton receives a fortune, but the sport did win three medals. Curling is niche and winning nothing is a bad look.
