TIGERS ARE PITCH PERFECT

-

LEICESTER head coach Matt O’Connor praised his players for delivering their game plan to perfection to beat Saracens 28-20 at Allianz Park. Tries from Manu Tuilagi, Greg Bateman and Telusa Veainu put the Tigers 21-6 up at the break and Jonah Holmes sealed a bonus point with a try in the second half. Matt Toomua kicked four conversions. Max Malins ran in two late scores for the hosts but Saracens remain four points behind leaders Exeter. O’Connor said: ‘Our respect for Saracens drove the performance and the preparation during the week was exceptional. ‘We know how good they are and how efficient they are and that was the base around why we needed to come here and be as accurate as we could. ‘The boys delivered, which was pleasing. We were exceptional, especially in the first half.’ London Irish kept alive their slim hopes of avoiding relegation with a 22-9 home win over fellow strugglers Worcester. Piet van Zyl scored the game’s only try.
