JONJO’S JUST NOT PULLING HIS WEIGHT

- FRANK LAMPARD EXPOSES SHELVEY’S WEAKNESSES

HIS passing was sublime, but the defensive side of his game in the latter stages didn’t live up to it. For the first goal, Lewis Cook starts to move and Shelvey doesn’t. The ball is played to Adam Smith, great finish. By the time the ball hits the back of the net, Shelvey (below) has got his hands on his knees and is bent over! At 2-1, he lets Cook run, gets desperate, chasing on the edge of the box, but as it carries on, his team-mates defend for their lives and Shelvey has hands on knees. I think it’s a mentality thing. He switches off and Rafa Benitez will be livid. He is the best passer in the team but moments like that can cost you a game.
