ELNENY: WE’LL MAKE YOU SMILE AGAIN YOUNG MAN

- By KIERAN GILL

ARSENAL midfielder Mohamed Elneny has vowed to put the smile back on the face of the little boy who was shown crying in the stands during their lacklustre Carabao Cup final defeat by Manchester City. The television cameras inside Wembley showed the youngster in tears as his team were trailing 3- 0 and the images were shared thousands of times on social media. It prompted Elneny to tweet yesterday: ‘Listen, your tears are so precious for all of us. For the sake of you and the sake of all the Gunners fans I promise you to fight to draw the smile on your face.’ Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, who is on loan at Getafe from Arsenal, added: ‘We felt the same as you, little boy!! Heads up young Gunner. Sometimes you win some and sometimes lose some!’ Meanwhile, the north London club are aiming to do something special for their upset supporter. Whetever they decide to do, Arsenal will keep it private, but it could involve inviting the schoolboy and his parents to a day out at the Emirates Stadium. Sky Sports co-commentator Gary Neville did not hold back on Sunday as he slated the Gunners for their lazy performance against Premier League leaders City. After David Silva scored City’s third goal to kill the game off, the former Manchester United man said: ‘They are an absolute disgrace. Walking on a football pitch at Wembley, giving up. Spineless.’

As thousands of Arsenal fans streamed out of Wembley in protest, the cameras then picked out the crying child. ‘That’s what you cause,’ said Neville.
