PETER DAWSON: Diehard violent racist and UM activist who scrawled Nazi slogans on a London synagogue and was jailed for attacking an African politician outside the Ritz hotel. Dawson and Max Mosley both canvassed for the UM in 1959 in Kensington North. Dawson told an interviewer: ‘ I hate Jews and blacks and I’m prepared to spend the rest of my life getting them out of this country.’ Dawson threatened visiting entertainers Sammy Davis Jr and Eartha Kitt because they had white partners.

Also arrested for an arson attack on the AntiApartheid movement’s HQ in London, for which Sir Oswald Mosley made a show of expelling him from the party.

But his presence at Ridley Road suggests that the exclusion meant nothing.
