Insurance add-ons
MILLIONS of motorists are shelling out £64 each for insurance addons at Admiral, helping the firm post record profits in 2017.
The motor division raked in £202.9m from ‘ other revenue’ last year, such as breakdown cover and legal protection, adding up to £64 for all of the 3.8m cars it insures. The huge sums are likely to reopen the debate over whether motorists are getting ripped off as premiums rise.
Around a quarter of the total has come from forcing hard- up customers to pay more if they decide to split their payments into monthly instalments.
