Rice set for bumper new West Ham deal
WEST HAM are willing to more than double Declan Rice’s wages in a bid to keep the highly rated academy product at the club. The 19-year-old’s contract — believed to be worth £10,000 a week — runs out in the summer of 2020. And the Hammers are set to offer him a new deal worth around £25,000 a week. Rice, who can play as a centre back or defensive midfielder, made his Premier League debut in the final game of last season and has made 23 appearances this term. Rice has been at the club since the age of 14, after being released by Chelsea. As well as impressing in domestic football, Rice has represented the Republic of Ireland at Under 21 level. The London-born youngster is eligible to play for England, but is expected to stick with Ireland after rising through their ranks.
