Music is boring, says Bowie’s son

-

DAVID Bowie’s son Duncan Jones has revealed his dislike of music, saying listening to songs is ‘like watching your dad do accounting’.

Jones, who changed his name from Zowie Bowie when he was 12, said he would rather watch television news than listen to his late father’s songs, which are widely regarded as some of the best pop music ever made.

‘I never really got into music,’ Jones said. ‘It’s like work ... I listen to a lot of CNN and watch a lot of news.’

Asked if had ever considered a pop career, the 46-year-old said: ‘I was always interested in making films. Music didn’t feel like a natural fit.’

The director, who dedicated his latest film, Mute, to his father’s memory, said his feelings towards music were not the result of an unhappy family life.

He told interviewer Marc Maron: ‘He was a great father. I had an unusual upbringing, but not a negative one.’
