ELECTRONICS firm Laird’s boss agreed to a £1bn takeover from US private equity group Advent International. One of the oldest names in British industry – it formed out of historic shipbuilders Cammell Laird – joins a lengthy list of tech companies which have chosen to take their chances with US owners. Sad.
