Mischievous Margot and a prank on a prince

- Mail Foreign Service

CONVERSATIONS with the royal family usually follow certain protocol – but not, it seems, if you’re Margot Robbie.

The actress has revealed how she played a phone prank on Prince Harry.

Fortunately for the Australian star, though, the fifth in line to the throne was ‘cool’ about the unexpected call.

Miss Robbie – who was up for the best actress award at last night’s Oscars for her role as controversial skater Tonya Harding in I, Tonya – said it happened when she and model Cara Delevingne found themselves with spare time while filming together. ‘Cara knows Harry and while we were filming Suicide Squad she was like, “Let’s prank-call him”,’ Miss Robbie told the Sun on Sunday.

‘I said, “We can’t prank-call royalty”, but anyway we did – and he was so cool with it.’

She might not have been observing royal etiquette in the way she contacted the prince, but the 27-year-old Wolf of Wall Street star diplomatically declined to reveal details of the prank. She said: ‘Prince Harry is so nice. England literally has the coolest royalty in the world.’

After the prank in 2016, Miss Robbie was left cringing about it when she bumped into Harry at a party hosted by model Suki Waterhouse in London.

She and the prince – wearing novelty spectacles – were pictured in a photo booth at the event with Princess Eugenie, model Sienna Miller, TV presenter Poppy Jamie and Miss Delevingne.

Miss Robbie said: ‘I didn’t realise until I was inside [the booth] that one of the people [with me] was Prince Harry.’
