The Department for Environmen­t, Food and Rural Affairs said: ‘We’ll be working with industry to reform packaging waste regulation­s to incentivis­e producers to take greater responsibi­lity.’

More than 500 volunteers took part in Britain’s biggest beach clean yesterday, filling up to 100 bin bags with plastic and other recyclable­s from a mile-long stretch in Shoreham, West Sussex.
