IN 1912, Elizabeth Arden gave red lipsticks to suffragettes marching on New York’s Fifth Avenue as a show of solidarity — at the time, red was seen as a daring colour for women to wear.
So it follows that her company’s new limitededition Beautiful Colour Lipstick, in Red Door Red, (£22, elizabetharden.co.uk) will raise money for the UN Women charity as part of its March On campaign.
It is supported by actress and outspoken feminist Reese Witherspoon, whose signature is emblazoned on the case.
