Avoid a scare on the stairs

-

There’s a reason our parents put a safety gate across the stairs when we were small. Stairs can be deadly. As we grow older, poor depth perception, especially in low light, is one of the main causes of falls. Add health conditions such as arthritis, and the stairs can be downright scary. A modern stairlift overcomes this hazard, reassuring Mum or Dad that their next trip up to the bedroom won’t land them in hospital. And it’s not just about getting up and down to bed. Some stairlifts are used to take groceries or laundry upstairs, or to bring meals up to a bedridden spouse. Freedom, independence and dignity are important to adults of all ages — and naturally, our parents want the same in their retirement. A home lift is another sound investment for the future that they can get a lot of use and enjoyment from now. It is surprisingly simple to install. One type runs uniquely on dual rails, fso no extra weight burden is put on the home. It fits into any suitable space — from a corner, to a cupboard or utility room, needing only a small footprint and leaving the stairs clear. It is also super-quiet as it does not even use hydraulics, but is powered by an intelligent electric motor system that simply plugs into a standard power socket. It takes 10 to 15 seconds to get upstairs. All you have to do is simply open the door, pull the lever and press the button. The biggest job required is to cut an aperture — a hole in the ceiling that the lift can go up through. When the lift is down, this aperture is covered by tts roof, allowing the upstairs room to look and function pretty much as usual. Similarly, when the lift is upstairs, the downstairs space is available.
