LITTLE BRO JOE SHOWS SAM HOW IT’S DONE

-

SAM SIMMONDS made his comeback from injury at Sandy park yesterday (right), but the England No 8 found himself upstaged by his younger brother. Joe Simmonds (below) was man of the match for Exeter in their win against Saracens, after being thrust in at No 10. His highlight was a loop around Henry Slade and a sublime flat pass to send phil Dollman over for a try. But Sam made his mark too, with a fast kickchase 12 minutes from time which allowed him to tackle Alex Goode in Saracens’ in-goal area. The resulting series of attacking scrums led to the Chiefs claiming a decisive penalty try. Sam will take part in England training early this week and his pace should mean he is considered for a recall to the starting XV against France in paris. However, the home side are bound to unleash a monstrous pack, which will work in favour of Nathan Hughes retaining his place at the base of the scrum.
