Fired-up Chiefs boost title bid
EXETER boss Rob Baxter believes that a visit from European champions Saracens motivated his players to hit peak form as they claimed a key Aviva Premiership victory. The Chiefs moved seven points clear in defence of their title as fly-half Joe Simmonds — younger brother of England back-rower Sam Simmonds — kicked four penalties and provided an important assist for full back Phil Dollman’s try. Exeter’s superior scrum was rewarded with a second-half penalty try, while Saracens claimed touchdowns from Ben Earl and Schalk Brits. ‘The challenge of Saracens coming here really brought the best out of us,’ Baxter said.
