Labour equality aide quits after vile tweets

-

A TRANSGENDER model has quit her role as a Labour Party adviser after being shamed over her offensive social media posts.

Munroe Bergdorf, who called ‘all white people’ racist, blamed her downfall on the media.

Her resignation came as the party agreed to allow self-defining transgender women places on all-women shortlists.

Miss Bergdorf, 31, was handed the unpaid role advising Labour’s shadow equalities minister Dawn Butler on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues last week, despite being dismissed by L’Oreal over racist comments.

She has also labelled suffragettes ‘white supremacists’ and dubbed gay Conservative activists ‘a special kind of d***head’.

Over the weekend it emerged that she labelled a Twitter

follower a ‘hairy barren lesbian’ in 2012 and also said she wanted to ‘gay bash’ a TV star – comments she has since apologised for. In a Twitter statement she said: ‘I wanted my appointment to be something positive... but instead it has turned into nasty tabloid fodder, blown out of all proportion.’

Her departures came as the party faces a row over whether transgender women who have not changed legal gender should appear on all-women shortlists.

The policy was signed off by the party’s equalities committee yesterday and will be endorsed later this month. However the move has angered many women who say that only those born female or who have changed their gender legally should be allowed.
