manager Gareth Southgate is pondering a debut call-up for Burnley defender James Tarkowski as he finalises his plans for the games against Holland and Italy later this month. Southgate, who is short of defensive options, watched Tarkowski in last weekend’s win over Everton as well as keeper Nick Pope, who could also be given his first call-up. Several English defenders are short of game time, such as Gary Cahill at Chelsea and Liverpool’s Joe Gomez.
