RIDDLE OVER ‘LAST PICTURE’

MYSTERY surrounds the identity of a couple who were caught on CCTV minutes before the attack after a witness insisted it was not the former spy and his daughter.

In the footage, above, an older man and younger blonde woman who is carrying a bright red handbag can be seen strolling through Salisbury. They appear to be holding hands and seem to glance up at security cameras.

A personal trainer from the gym whose cameras caught the pair said that she later saw the same woman collapsed on a bench nearby.

But others insisted that former Russian spy Sergei Skripal, 66, was a bigger man, while his daughter Yulia, 33, was a brunette, not a blonde.

A man who saw Mr Skripal and his daughter at Zizzi restaurant in Salisbury on Sunday shortly before they were poisoned, said: ‘That’s not him in the CCTV. He was bigger, heavier.’

Police want to speak to the pair in the CCTV footage, but yesterday refused to comment on their identity.
