Labour boss in anti-Semitism cash row
THE head of Labour’s international section gave money to a campaign against a group fighting anti-Semitism in the party.
Colin O’Driscoll showed his support on an online page opposing Labour Against Antisemitism (LAAS), which aims to highlight and prevent anti-Semitic abuse within the party.
Following complaints, the donations website JustGiving removed the campaign against LAAS. Mr O’Driscoll donated £30 to the Left Fundraising petition, which was set up to crowdfund a libel action against LAAS. It said activists had had enough of being accused of anti-Semitism.
A LAAS spokesman said: ‘We won’t be silenced by these threatening actions.’
A spokesman said: ‘The Labour Party is committed to challenging and campaigning against anti-Semitism in all its forms. Any instances of anti-Semitism will be investigated and acted upon.’
