America’s hiring frenzy

US EMPLOYERS went on a hiring spree in February, adding 313,000 jobs – the most in any single month since 2016.

The surge has been linked to confidence among businesses that the Trump administration’s tax cuts will accelerate consumer and company spending.

Average wages rose 2.6pc over the past year, the US Labor Department said.
