Teen Knight lands ‘crazy’ second skiing silver medal
TEENAGER Millie Knight said it was ‘crazy’ that she had won a second Winter Paralympics medal in Pyeongchang. The 19-year-old from Kent followed up her second place in the women’s downhill with another silver in the VI super-G along with her guide Brett Wild. ‘If you’d said I would have two medals in two days I would have said you are crazy,’ she said. Knight was beaten to gold by Slovakia’s Henrieta Farkasova, who landed her seventh Paralympic title. There was more medal success for Great Britain as Menna Fitzpatrick, 20, from Macclesfield, took bronze with guide Jennifer Kehoe. Defending champion Kelly Gallagher, from Bangor, finished eighth, along with her guide Gary Smith. Gallagher was a late addition to the team, after a number of seasons affected by injury. ‘I just need to ski like I’ve got nothing to lose,’ she said. ‘There’s three more races and we have a lot to work on. We’re here though and a few months ago I was worried at the thought of even inspecting a super-G course.’
