Knocking out City was great but promotion would top it!

-

1 FIRST FOOTBALL MEMORY...

I wouldn’t say that this is my first memory, but one that I will never forget was Zinedine Zidane’s volley in the Champions League final against Bayer Leverkusen in 2002. That has always stuck in my mind. It is probably the best goal I have ever seen.

2 BEST PLAYER I’VE PLAYED WITH...

It has to be Nick Powell. One of the reasons I signed for Wigan was to play with the calibre of players the club have and he was a name that stuck out. What he does in training and matches week-in, week-out is unbelievable at times. You can tell he is just a level above everyone in League One.

3 TOUGHEST OPPONENT...

I have played against Kyle Walker twice now — once at Tottenham and most recently when we beat Manchester City in the FA Cup. He is just an athlete.

4 FAVOURITE FOOTBALLING MOMENT...

I remember staying up on the last day of the season in League One with Colchester in 2015. Everything was against us. We were playing Preston, who needed to win to get promoted, and we needed three other results to go our way for us to even have a chance of surviving. Fortunately we won 1-0 with George Moncur scoring, the other results went our way and we survived. That was different class, but if I get promoted with Wigan this season, that will top it by far.

5 SPORTING HERO...

Thierry Henry was my favourite player growing up. I have always tried to base my game on him.

6 TOUGHEST AWAY GROUND...

Portsmouth is always tough given their fanbase. It is a great atmopshere and I have been fortunate to score there a few times over the years. With their backing, Millwall can be a very difficult place to play too.

7 THE FIRST ALBUM I BOUGHT...

Born To Do It by Craig David.

8 KARAOKE SONG...

I haven’t got one in particular but when Winter Wonderland is on in London I join in with a few Christmas songs.

9 BEST-DRESSED TEAM-MATE...

Everyone is laid back with their dress sense at Wigan. It is very casual. I’d have to give it to David Perkins.

10 DREAM DINNER PARTY GUESTS...

I’ll pick five given my interests at the moment: Drake, Emilia Clarke, Lionel Messi, Kevin Hart and Mike Tyson.

11 IF I WASN’T A FOOTBALLER...

I would be a DJ!
