e- sPorTs broadcaste­r Gfinity has struck a deal to air its events on Facebook.

The social network will broadcast weekly instalment­s of video game tournament­s for the popular FIFA 18, rocket league and street Fighter titles.

Gfinity said the deal would last until at least the end of this year. Neville Upton, its chief executive, said: ‘This pioneering deal will enable us to accelerate our plans for growth.’

Patrick Chapman, manager of e- sports partnershi­ps at Facebook, said: ‘ We are excited to support Gfinity in their internatio­nal expansion.’
