THE British bulldog is a national treasure; over the past 15 years, their numbers have quadrupled. But the breed is plagued by a long list of health problems, from breathing difficulties to spinal disease, and vets recently launched l a national campaign urging prospective dog owners to think twice about buying flat-faced breeds. Here, comedian, actress and dog-lover Catherine Tate (pictured) investigates the health issues affecting the British bulldog. She hears from breeders and dog lovers, and gets expert opinion on what can be done to save the breed, as well as asking the Kennel Club if they are doing their bit.
