Seven up as Cardiff and Warnock believe

-

A SEVENTH successive Championship win for Neil Warnock’s Cardiff City saw them open up a comfortable sevenpoint cushion in the automatic promotion places last night. Warnock, aiming for yet another return to the Premier League, has the Bluebirds believing they are on their way. Cardiff went 1-0 down against Brentford within five minutes, but such is their confidence, they bounced back and took the lead before the break. Goals from Sol Bamba, Callum Paterson and Kenneth Zohore sealed this win and Warnock said: ‘All credit to my lads when they went 1-0 down. We kept going. It was a super night. ‘We aren’t getting carried away. If you get carried away, you get

kicked in the teeth. I’m not confident of anything in the Championship, but let’s enjoy it.’ Bees boss Dean Smith was left to rue lapses, saying: ‘We left the back door open too often. We just lacked that bit of quality.’ Brentford took the lead after five minutes through Neal Maupay, who slotted the ball beyond Neil Etheridge. After 25 minutes, Cardiff hit back through Bamba’s sweet volley before Paterson netted in first-half stoppage time. Zohore made it 3-1 in the 58th minute to seal a seventh straight win.
