Civilisations, 9pm, BBC2 AFTER Mary Beard’s look at ancient depictions of the human body last week, historian Simon Schama returns for the third episode, this time exploring one of humankind’s deepest artistic urges — to depict nature. From the Song scrolls of tenth-century China to the photography of Ansel Adams in Forties America, it’s a fascinating subject, but one that would have benefited from a slightly lighter touch.
