Watch out for...

-

DEAN John-Wilson ( pictured), who starred in Here Lies Love at the National Theatre and was the original London Aladdin at the Prince Edward, has been cast by director Bartlett Sher to play Lun Tha, the young envoy in love with the King’s slave Tuptim (to be played by Na-Young Jeon) in The King And I.

Kelli O’Hara stars as governess Anna Leonowens, alongside Ken Watanabe as the stern King who learns to rule with good choreography.

The show runs at the London Palladium from June 21 and has been extended a further three weeks, until September 29 (extra tickets go on sale at 10am today).

I can’t write about this show without mentioning Ruthie Ann Miles, who played Lady Thiang — and won a Tony — with O’Hara and Watanabe at Lincoln Center Theater and is due to perform at the Palladium.

Last week, Ms Miles’s four-year-old daughter was killed when she was struck by an outofcontrol car while walking in Manhattan. The actress, who is seven months pregnant, was also injured.

The producers said in a statement: ‘This is an unbelievably tragic and heartbreaking situation.

‘Our focus and concern right now is for Ruthie and her family. Given our respect for Ruthie and her privacy, we won’t be commenting further at this time.’
