Welby fears ring blunder at wedding

-

The Archbishop of Canterbury has admitted he is nervous about dropping the rings at Prince harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding.

The Most Rev Justin Welby will officiate the ceremony in May.

But despite being the most senior cleric in the Church of england, he admitted being concerned about misplacing rings or forgetting the vows.

he told ITV News yesterday: ‘Unlike recent weddings, I must not drop the ring.

‘And I must not forget to get the vows in the right order, as I did at the rehearsal for one of my children’s weddings.’

The Archbishop sparked panic at a service last year when one of the wedding rings slipped from his grasp. It was eventually located by the bride, one of his senior aides, under a chair.

harry and Miss Markle will tie the knot at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on May 19. Miss Markle recently made her own wedding preparations when she was formally introduced to the Anglican faith. She was baptised and confirmed into the church in a ceremony led by the Archbishop at the Chapel Royal in St James’s Palace.
