LEAGUE ONE THIS WEEKEND
HERO OF THE WEEK
DAN MICCICHE — ‘No sign of Dan’s plan,’ was one of the headlines in February after former England U16 boss Micciche lost his first five games as MK Dons boss and the club fell into the drop zone. But the 2-1 victory over Bury was the Dons’ second win in a row and leaves them a point from safety.
ZERO OF THE WEEK
JOHNY PLACIDE — Oldham are only a point above the drop zone and they were still in the game at 1-0 down to Portsmouth until a lapse of concentration just before the break by keeper Placide. He played the ball straight to Brett Pitman for the striker to score his second.
GOAL OF THE WEEK
JOSH MORRIS (Scunthorpe v Shrewsbury) — Shrews goalkeeper Dean Henderson, on loan from Manchester United, takes some beating. But not many stop Morris when he’s in position to strike. His left-foot effort from a free-kick in the eighth minute swung left to right and dipped under Henderson’s bar and into the corner. Scunthorpe went on to lose 2-1.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
JIMMY FLOYD HASSELBAINK. Northampton have not won for five games and are in the relegation zone after a 3-0 defeat by rotherham. Manager Hasselbaink said: ‘We need an answer quickly because we have four games left at home and need to try to win them all.’
STAT OF THE WEEK
29 — Plymouth, with 29 from a possible 36, have won more points in 2018 than any other team in the league. They are in the division’s last play-off place.
