Long way to climb for a cat nap!

- By Blair Meikle

IT’S usually as simple as putting one paw in front of the other.

But when four-year-old Simba slips through this cat flap, she needs energy, flexibility and dogged determination.

Owner Marcin Telus has turned the side of his house into a high-rise cat-sized assault course that leads to a cat flap on the first floor.

Mr Telus, from Edinburgh, said he and his wife found the idea online and Simba took to it straight away.

‘We changed the front door and couldn’t put a flap in the new one as we’d lose our guarantee, so the cat flap had to move,’ the construction worker said. ‘She took to it instantly. The minute I put the last timber on she was up.’

As well as keeping Simba fit, the upstairs cat flap has ended a long-running feud with Mr Telus’s other pet – Zara the German Shepherd. The new arrangement means that upstairs is Simba’s domain, while Zara rules the roost downstairs. Mr Telus said: ‘They prefer to stay apart.’
