ANIMAL-LOVER Caroline Quentin (pictured with mastiff Martha) presents an affectionate one-off celebration of pets that don’t fit the template for conventional beauty. She begins by meeting some of the UK’s most aesthetically challenged pets, discovering why some people choose to have animals that could be seen as less than photogenic, and hearing how these quirky-looking creatures can change their owners’ lives for the better. There are hairless guinea pigs, featherless chicks and giant snails as well as some unfortunate-looking dogs, including Chinese crested-mix Chase, who travelled from Wales to California in the hope of being crowned the World’s Ugliest Dog.
