SPRINGTIME

-

Spring streams down her golden rays And drapes them all around. Sharing her life energy To flora on the ground. She gently wakes the hedgehog — Without a loud alarm. But a little nudge to stir him So he awakes quite calm. Trees are breaking out in bud With blossom pushing through. Delicate and glorious In the soft light morning hue. Birds are now excited Their long-lost friends return. To join them in their chorus Amid hedgerow, flower and fern. All is now awakening And shaking off winter gloom. So enjoy spring while it’s with us; It disappears too soon. Sheila Webb, Chesham, Bucks.
