You can’t shock a dog into being a good pet

-

At LAST they are banning those horrible electric shock dog training collars. My wife and I have had rescue dogs over the years and never needed to resort to using these terrible devices, despite the abuse our pets had gone through previously. I worked at a girls’ school on an estate of 80 acres, and all our dogs accompanied us in the grounds. they were brilliant with the pupils and members of staff. smudge, a lab-Alsatian cross, recognised them all and loved being made a fuss of — but woe betide any ‘undesirables’ who needed removing! For ten years he was the constant protector, watcher and companion in the grounds. I took him to classes and all our other dogs learned from his example. He died aged 13. Another dog, Pepsi, was equally as devoted without any need for cruel training devices. All our dogs had their funny ways, as do us humans, but we can’t praise them enough for their loyalty.
