Hell of mixed sex wards . . .

THE last time I spent a prolonged period in hospital, I was placed on a mixed ward.

I cannot emphasise how uncomfortable it felt — having just had emergency abdominal surgery with all the attendant side-effects ( catheter, bedpan, intimate dressings) — to have to perform certain processes in the presence of strangers of the opposite sex.

I know the NHS is under great pressure, but the Government really must put an end to this humiliating practice.
