Drivers to save £35 in the war on whiplash
DRIVERS will save an average of £35 on their annual car insurance bill following a crackdown on whiplash claims, the Government said yesterday.
Justice secretary David Gauke laid out details of long-awaited legislation designed to take on cowboy claims firms and put the brakes on soaring premiums.
Under the Civil Liability Bill, compensation payouts for whiplash injuries will be capped and medical evidence will have to be produced for claims to even be considered.
Mr Gauke said the reforms were part of a wider efforts to tackle the compensation culture and take on predatory firms which bombard people with text messages and phone calls urging them to make a claim.
