No socks – no entry, Ascot men are told
AND they’re off! No, not Ascot’s racehorses... the men’s socks.
Male racegoers are increasingly following the trend for wearing loafers with bare feet at the prestigious event – and now it’s been banned.
Anyone turning up to this year’s Royal Ascot in June without the correct attire will be turned away – or offered socks to buy at the entrance gate.
As the notoriously strict dress code was tightened up once again, men in the two royal enclosures have been told they ‘must wear socks’.
A spokesman for the Berkshire racecourse said it was important that ‘standards are maintained’.
‘Hallelujah! Worst trend ever,’ wrote one race fan on Twitter.
