Vauxhall jobs cull

THE French-owners of Vauxhall are plotting to cut up to 3,800 jobs at car dealers across the UK, it is claimed today.

Dealers have warned that PSA Group intends to close more than 100 of Vauxhall’s 324 car dealership­s in a bid to make huge savings.

PSA bought Vauxhall and last year for £1.9bn. Since then it has outlined plans to cut almost £1bn in costs across the business by 2020.

The group has already announced 650 job cuts at its Ellesmere Port plant in Cheshire, which makes the Astra.

The claims were dismissed as ‘speculativ­e’ last night by one Vauxhall source.
